This might not be so typical cause I asked for it.
Esto quizá no sea tan típico porque lo pedí así.
Papas cocidas, zanahoria cocida, huevos cocidos y café.
One of the best parts about Nicaraguan tourism is the food. This is as real as it gets. We are in El Comején, Masaya in Nicaragua this week, basically camping out. I would like to share my breakfasts with you for the next few days, provided by locals.

There’s a new tourism project in Tola, Rivas, Nicaragua named Guacalito de la Isla. The first phase consists of a world-class boutique hotel with 35 habitations. Vacation villas and a golf course designed by David Mclay Kidd will complete the first phase of this project, designed to be finished in 2013. Additionally there are plans for a world-class hotel with 600 habitations in the second phase of construction. The design promises to maintain 70% of the green areas in this lush tropical zone of Nicaragua.
Tola, Rivas is one of the most desired areas in Nicaragua, coveted for it’s sandy beaches and excellent surf.

We ate this morning at the Hotel Spa Granada. They have an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for $5 + tax (C$125). It’s got a little bit of everything: coffee, 2 varieties of fruit juice, water, 3 varieties of fruit, fried plantains, fried potatoes, rice and beans, omelets made to order, pancakes and crepes made to order as well. I would say the best part of the buffet is the price. It is a good value for what you get. The dining area also has a nice atmosphere. While there may be more flavorful options in town, you can’t go wrong for the price and location. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 7.
It’s on the Calle Atravesada, across from Bancentro. You can get complete information at www.HotelSpaGranada.com.
By the way, the dog’s name is Chiquita.
We went with Aaron Lamy to eat supper tonight at La Terraza Mediterraneo, in León, Nicaragua. It’s a nice little place with good steak. There is a variety in the menu as you can see in the pictures.

There is a nice cut of beek in Archduke sauce – C$165 ($8.00)
Next there is spaghetti with chicken and basil – C$135 ($6.85)
Finally I had the shrimp in garlic sauce C$185 ($9.15).
Coca-Cola or sweetened lemon tea costs C$15 a drink.
Should you leave a tip? Note the note (second to bottom) that says that “the dishes are served with rice and crudity”. Thus “Tipping is voluntary”. OK?

Survivor: Nicaragua is the 21st season of the popular reality TV show Survivor. It aired on CBS in the United States from September 15, 2010, to December 19, 2010. The season was filmed in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, and featured 20 contestants competing for the grand prize of $1 million.
The season was divided into two tribes: Espada, consisting of contestants over the age of 40, and La Flor, consisting of contestants under the age of 30. The tribes were eventually merged into one, called Libertad.
The season was notable for its many twists and turns, including the introduction of the Medallion of Power, which gave the tribe that possessed it an advantage in challenges, and the introduction of the hidden Immunity Idol, which allowed a contestant to negate any votes cast against them at Tribal Council.
The season was won by Jud “Fabio” Birza, a 21-year-old model from California, who defeated Chase Rice and Matthew “Sash” Lenahan in the final Tribal Council. Birza was praised for his strategic gameplay and likable personality throughout the season.
