Here we are again en El Zaguán having a wonderful lunch with la Yeyita, Eunice and Mrs. Aura Lila de Martinez. This time I tried grilled sea bass in an onion, green pepper and tomato based sauce. Yummy!

Aquí estamos nuevamente en El Zaguán, disfrutando de un excelente almuerzo con la Yeyita, Eunice y Doña Aura Lila de Martínez. Esta vez probé el corvina a la parrilla en una salsa de cebolla, chiltoma y tomate. Riquísimo!!!

Here is a view from the north side of the main city square in Granada. It is a historical site with much to say about Nicaragua’s interesting past.

Aquí está un vistazo del lado norte de la plaza del parque central de Granada. Es un lugar muy histórico que habla mucho acerca de la historia muy interesante que tiene Nicaragua.

Meet Mr. Eduardo. He is a carpenter in Granada, Nicaragua ala old school. Still making furniture and woodwork by hand. Here is working on an entertainment center made of Guanacaste wood. It’s final cost will be $C5000 cash ($250) or C$7000 ($350) in monthly payments.

Conocé a Don Eduardo. Él es carpintero de la vieja escuela en Granada, Nicaragua. Fabrica muebles a mano. Aquí está trabajando en un ‘multiuso’ para televisión, etc. Está hecho de madera Guanacaste. Cuesta C$5000 en efectivo ($250) o C$7000 ($350) en “cuotas chiquitititas”.

Here’s a shot from the La Calzada street on the east side of Granada, Nicaragua. It’s a great street full of restaurants and pubs.

Aquí hay un vistazo de la calle La Calzada, del lado este de la ciudad de Granada, Nicaragua. Es una calle llena de mucha actividad por sus restaurantes y tabernas.

We went out to eat this evening with Brett, Giselle y Joshua Jebens at La Casa de los Artistas (right in front of La Gran Francia). It’s owner is Italian and prepares meals with his original Italian flair. My plate consisted of three-cheese gnocchi. It was delicious!!!

If you are ever in Granada, look Brett up – he is the owner of Wooden Bridge Trading Co. (www.woodenbridge.net). He is one of the best woodmakers in town, specializing in yesteryear Caribbean style woodwork, doors and windows especially. Afterwards, zip on over to Guissell’s beauty salón (from the central park, 1 block south) for a fresh look.

Hoy fuimos a comer con Brett y Giselle Jebens en el restaurante La Casa de los Artistas (frente a La Gran Francia). Su dueño es Italiano y prepara las comidas con su propio estilo Italiano. Mi plato era gnocchi de tres quesos. ¡¡Era delicioso!!

Si alguna vez estás en Granada, buscá a Brett – él es el propietario de Wooden Bridge Trading Co. (www.woodenbridge.net). Es uno de los mejores ebanistas en Granada, con especialidad en trabajos de madera con estilos antaños del Caribe, especialmente puertas y ventanas. Después pasá por el salón de belleza de Guissell (del parque central, 1 cuadra al sur) y cambiáte de ‘look’.

Mr. Angelino works hard to get donations in the form of prosthesis for the many people in the Chichigalpa, Chinandega area who were injured and/or maimed in the Nicaraguan civil war during the 1980’s. He is more than happy to change out this fellows leg. Just a few quick twists, an ajustment here and there and he was good to go!!

Don Angelino trabaja duro tratando de conseguir piezas protesicas para la muchas personas en la zona de Chichigalpa, Chinandega quienes fueron heridas o lisiadas en la guerra civil en Nicaragua durante los años 80. Trabaja alegre cambiando la pierna de este señor. A ver…un jirón por allí, otro ajuste por allí y el hombre lucía como nuevo!!

We went to eat supper at TelePizza in Granada. Our hosts were Ezequiel and Diana Chalupa.
I must say that the pizza was a lot better than Pizza Hot in Chinandega. They have some really good varieties of pizza. This Hawaiian pizza cost C$115 (about $6.50). Add a few beverages and a good time was had by all!!! Thumbs up for TelePizza!!!
Fuimos a cenar en TelePizza en Granada. Nos invitaron Ezequiel y Diana Chalupa. Debo decir que la pizza aquí está mucho mejor que la de Pizza Hot en Chinandega. Tienen una muy buena variedad de pizza. Esta hawaiana cuesta $C115 (aprox. $6.50). Agrega unas bebidas y todos lo pasamos bien!!! Aplausos para TelePizza!!!

This young women in a wheelchair sells churros (a bread type snack) for a living. They cost C$1 a piece (around $0.05). I bought 10 for $C10. Umm umm!!

Esta mujer jóven en silla de ruedas vende churros para su sostento. Cuestan C$1 c/u (+-$0.05). Compré 10 por $C10. Ricos!!!!
