Pupusas are an original from El Salvador. However, since Chinandega, Nicaragua, located in the northwest part of the country, is somewhat close to El Salvador (by water or by land) there is a crossover of food. In the central park, you will find a ‘Pupusería’ where you can get these thick tortillas filled with pork, cheese, refried beans or any combination of the three. Then, you can put a pickled cabbage salad and a spicy tomato sauce on them and you will be good to go! They cost C$10 ($0.45) each and usually two or three is enough!
