Nicaragua is a very fascinating place to take pictures. Its people and places offer a very interesting experience. Once you have taken a lot of pictures, however, picture editing is a necessary and time-consuming labor. Then you might wonder what picture editing software you should use. There are dozens of different options, from free picture editing software to professional software packages. Some are subscription based, others are a one-time purchase. To say what are the best picture editing apps is difficult as the options and features are so varied.
I have purchased Luminar 4 and am currently using it to edit new posts and re-edit older posts here on my www.nicatourism.com blog. It is very good for beginners and more experienced picture editors. It has unique artificial intelligence (AI) features that make quick photo editing a breeze. However, the most exciting news from the Skylum software family is Luminar AI – to be released on December 15th. I have it on preorder and you can too. To learn more about it, follow this link. Take a look! You will be really surprised!

Just a 2 1/2 hour drive from the capital of Nicaragua, Managua, the San Cristobal volcano is the tallest active volcano in the country (5725 feet above sea level). It’s crater measures some 1,640 feet wide. It’s a beautiful sight from afar because of its almost perfect symmetry. With San Cristobal being only one in a long chain of volcanos, Nicaragua is fittingly named “the land of lakes and volcanos”.
How would you feel about going to a dentist in Nicaragua? ‘Tranquilo Bobby, tranquilo.’ There is very good health care in Nicaragua. This dentist office in Granada, Nicaragua (less than an hour drive from Managua) was the best dentist experience I have ever had anywhere. Very friendly, very professional, very clean…modern equipment and much better prices than in the U.S. For example, in Nicaragua a resin filling (white) can cost between $12.50 – $25.00. Cleaning can cost between 7.50 – $15.00. A root canal can cost between 50.00 – $100.00. I liked it so much that I am going back on Monday!

Monkeys in Las Isletas de Granada in Lake Cocibolca
We took a little hour-long boat ride on Lake Cocibolca, the largest lake in Nicaragua and in all Central America. It is the 21st biggest lake in the world with an average depth of 85 ft.
Nicaragua is home to Lake Cocibolca, once romped by British pirates, having made their way upstream in the San Juan River. Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) is said to have travelled this route using Lake Cocibolca on his way to California Gold Rush in the 19th century.
The lake drains east to the Caribbean side of Nicaragua, although the Pacific Ocean can be seen from the tops of nearby volcanoes.
This freshwater lake is unique in that it has sharks – the Lake Nicaraguan Shark can jump upstream through the rapids of the San Juan River and enter the freshwater lake, which is shared as it’s habitat.
There are monkeys to be seen on the little trek as well. They live on small islands in Lake Nicaragua.
When you have the pleasure of travelling on an old yellow school bus in Nicaragua, you can have many needs catered. First of all, you won’t need a map of Nicaragua. Your driver knows where he is going: Chinandega, León, Managua, Masaya, Granada, Estelí, Matagalpa…even to Bluefields if you want.

You can even buy medicine that cures just about anything (or so says the man). Ahh but no bathrooms on the bus…keep that in mind. Settle in and get ready for your trip….

Is that really snow on the ground? No, it is not. It is a salt farm. Fresh from these salt pools to your table in Chinandega, Managua or worldwide… WONDERFUL!!!
Since Nicaragua has a lot of oceanfront property, salt is manufactured in this way.
